Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972 in Long Beach California. Her aunt Denise inspired her love of art and creativity. The aunt was on the night shift as a nurse, so she could indulge her passion for art literature and theater in the daytime. DuVernay instantly fell in love when she showed her that 1961 West Side Story film. DuVernay realized that art could be a powerful tool to promote the cause of activism. Similar to DuVernay's mom, she was conscious of her social status and influenced that she could express her thoughts through the arts. While DuVernay grew up in Compton with her parents, she lived living in Lowndes County Alabama where her father's family lived for generations. The father of DuVernay's remembered watching the Civil Rights movement's historic march through the Edmund Pettus Bridge, in neighboring Selma Alabama. The time spent in Selma, Alabama during the summer, inspired her later to direct a movie about The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as the Civil Rights Movement. DuVernay graduated from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in the year 1990. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles upon graduation. There she received degrees in English and African American Studies. DuVernay was a student at the college when she became interested in production for broadcast journalism. Her first job was as an assistant for CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being given the task of watching the home and looking through the garbage from one of juries. Following her disappointment with journalistic work by the assignments she was given, DuVernay decided to pursue an interest in public relations. DuVernay started her first job as a publicity specialist in small production studios right out of high school. Her private PR company, The DuVernay Agency was established in 1999. Apart from PR, the agency established several lifestyle platforms such as Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley is born with the birth astrological sign. Her name is associated with a well-known actress that has been in American Experience (1987), A More Perfect Union (2009), and other films.
