Rose McGowan

 

Rosa Arianna "Rose" McGowan (born September 5 1973) is an American actress and activist. McGowan's debut film appearance was in the comedy Encino Man (1992), but she earned more recognition due to her part in The Doom Generation (1995) in which she was awarded an Independent Spirit Award nomination as Best Debut Performance. Her breakthrough came in the horror film Scream (1996) which later was the lead in the films Going All the Way (1997) Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Jawbreaker (1999). McGowan's performance as Paige Matthews on the WB supernatural drama Charmed (2001-2006) was the most well-known part of her career. Quentin Tarantino directed her double-feature film Grindhouse (2006), in which she received the Saturn Award for Best Actress and the Scream Award to Best Scream Queen. She was a part of the action-thriller series Chosen (2014), and released her debut studio album, Planet 9, in 2018, which was followed by a revamp in 2020. McGowan was named the Silence Breakers in 2017 by Time magazine. The award honors McGowan's efforts to combat sexual assault and harassment specifically in the context of Harvey Weinstein cases of sexual assault as well as the Me Too movement. In 2018, she published Brave which is a memoir as well as appeared in Citizen Rose, a four-part documentary series.
