Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
exceptionally talented and adept in drama and comedy, became a household name
as Peg Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children, 1987). She was nominated for
two American Comedy Awards as well as three Golden Globes throughout the show's
long duration. Peg Bundy was an extremely well-known and loved character,
however Katey continued to play her part when the show's end. She starred in
several sitcoms and portrayed characters who were different to the outrageous
role that gained her national attention. In 2008 she played the character in
the role of Gemma Teller Morrow (the matriarch of the Hell's Angels-esque
California biker group) on Sons of Anarchy (2008). Her portrayal won her a
Golden Globe Award in 2011 for the Best Performance by an Actress in a
Television Series--Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal, the director and daughter of
Sara Zwilling and Boris Sagal were born 19th January 1954. Los Angeles native,
Catherine Louise Sagal began performing when she was just five years old. She
later trained in voice and acting at the California Institute of the Arts in
Valencia. She began her career as a singing waitress during her "salad
years" and continued to perform with "The Group with No Name."
Then she was fortunate enough to be able to hook up with Gene Simmons (and his
1970s rock group KISS), and got an offer to work. While she was there, she
gained valuable experience as a backup singer for Simmons and other established
stars like Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John, Etta James, and Tanya Tucker. She was
also dynamic in live performances with Bette Midler during the wild stage show
of Bette Midler in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
