Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American performer and actress from Irish origin. The green-eyed beauty with flaming red hair was famous for her fiery and passionate performances in a variety of American films. Her natural beauty and glamorous appearance was well-loved and she was known as the "Queen of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her roles on screen reflect her brave, strong character who fought to survive and gain recognition in a male-dominated industry. She referred to herself as "the tough Irish woman", and she would not compromise on her respect for others to be able to play the roles she was entitled to through merit. She stood up against injustices and discrimination against female actors during her film career and earned lots of admirers. Her autobiography, 'Tis Herself which was published in 2004 provided an honest and authentic story of her entire experience, including her struggles as she climbed the ladder of success. She was an adventurous woman who didn't hesitate to attempt her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in more than 60 films throughout the years and was a pillar of international fame. In the wake of Parra her second marriage, she got married in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation, to name just a few of her accomplishments. After a few years of their marriage, O'Hara decided to end her retirement. Blair died tragically during an airplane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s happiness. She was also diagnosed with uterine cancer in the same year. She was treated for it and then had an immediate operation. She was successful in recovering. Over the next few years, her health deteriorated and she suffered six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
